The Moraira "Must-Sees": Our Local Playground

With about ten months to go, I thought I’d start sharing a few bits and pieces about the area surrounding Casa Allen. While it might be tempting to just park ourselves by the infinity pool for 96 hours straight (and nobody would blame you!), Moraira itself is a bit of a hidden gem that’s well worth a wander.
The best part? Everything below is within a 5-to-10-minute drive from the front door. Here’s the "starter pack" for our Mediterranean home-away-from-home:
1. The Marina & The Promenade
Moraira isn't one of those high-rise resort towns. It’s a chic, low-rise fishing village that’s managed to stay posh but friendly. The Marina is full of boats we can’t afford, but the walk along the sea wall is free! It’s the perfect spot for that first evening stroll to get our bearings.

2. El Castillo (The Lookout)
You can’t miss the stone fortress sitting right on the water's edge. It was built in the 1700s to keep pirates away (hopefully they don't return for May 2027). It divides the two main beaches and provides the best backdrop for a big family photo.

3. The "Labyrinth" Streets
The town center is a maze of narrow, pedestrianised streets. It’s packed with small boutiques, bakeries, and more tapas bars than we could possibly visit in four days (though we might try). If you get lost, just head towards the sea!

4. El Portet Bay
I know I’ve mentioned this one before, but it really is the "Maldives of the Costa Blanca." It’s a tiny, secluded bay with water so clear you can see your toes even when you're waist-deep. There are a few small bars right on the sand—perfect for a morning coffee or a cheeky afternoon sundowner.

5. The Fish Market (Lonja)
Moraira still has a working fishing fleet. If you're down by the port in the mornings, you can see the daily catch coming in. It’s why the seafood in the local restaurants is so top-tier.

The Plan: We’ll probably head down as a group at least once, but the beauty of having the hire cars is that people can drift in and out whenever they fancy a change of scenery or a specific ice cream craving.
Next month, I’ll be diving into the best beaches in the area—so get your swimwear ready!
